Shelter dogs are under tremendous amounts of stress. They are often in their kennels for 20-plus hours, so you can expect them to be stressed, high energy, and even frustrated. Once they are out of their kennel you have a chance to get to know them for who they are! Porche is a gentle walker and enjoys spending time with volunteers and staff. She prefers to spend her time relaxing away from the animal shelter, and occasionally she enjoys running around in play groups with other dogs. Porche would thrive in a home where she can continue to be active and also enjoy moments where she can relax with her family.

Some dogs don't fare as well in a shelter environment as others. That's the case with handsome Rusty. The noise and commotion rattles this poor fella, and when he's in the play yard he just paces around. He will require a patient, loving and understanding person to allow him to come out of his shell overtime. Rusty will need plenty of time to build trust with his future adopters. Some volunteers sit with him on the leash, and stroke his lustrous coat. He's a bit nervous (who would blame him?) but in no way aggressive. Do you think you could be the person who shows Rusty how wonderful a loving home can be? In order to find him the best home, the shelter may be open to a foster-to-adopt situation.

Are you torn between a big dog or a perky small breed? Look no further! This girl is 22 pounds and perfectly portable! Shye has the most gentle temperament. If you sit with her in the kennel, she'll approach you right away and put her paws on your chest. She's a great little walker and we have no reason to doubt that she'd be a loving fur baby to young (respectful kids) and old alike. She also appears to be housebroken. All this in the perfect pint-sized package!
